Dinky's Story

J.D."DINKY" CAMERON

I was born in Whitney Pier (Sydney) Nova Scotia to Ed and Dorothy Cameron with 7 siblings. I attended Holy Redeemer, Don Bosco, and Sydney Academy and worked at David's supermarket and the Post Record.

I joined the RCAF in 1960 and trained as Radio Operator did basic St. Jean PQ and was stationed at Clinton On, Goose Bay Lab. Moosejaw Sask., Baden-Solgen Germany and Penhold Al.

I was honourably discharged in 1970 and attended Red Deer College and the University of Alberta. And I graduated in 1972 with a BA in Sociology .
I then started playing and entertaining across the west. and played all 4 western provinces for 22 years.

I headed home to Cape Breton in 1992 and I am still playing and singing around Cape Breton to this day.
I now play six months in Florida and six months here.

After 32 years I am back with the love of my life, my high school sweetheart Donna. I feel lucky to have the love and support of a large amalgamated family of 7 children 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
I consider myself the most fortunate man in the world. I have been lucky at love and still have the love and support of a terrific woman. My children are close, loving and independent. On top of this I have been able to make a living at the job I love. Singing and strumming for 42 years with no end in sight.

I hope to see you soon
Love, Peace and Happiness
Dinky
